The seminar was opened by M. Christiansen from Seges, Denmark with an interesting presentation on global pig production economics and their impact on future pig production. Prof. Ducatelle from the University of Ghent, Belgium gave an energizing lecture on gut microflora, and M. Bouwhuis from Schothorst Feed Research in the Netherlands focused on the relationship between feed formulation, animal health and growth performance.
R. Bardini from Nutreco, Italy shared practical insights into gastrointestinal infections in the field. Furthermore, worm infections were discussed by Prof. Geldhof from the University of Ghent, Belgium. L. Schwarz from the University of Vienna, Austria then guided the participants through his latest studies of protozoal infections.
